  • 1-2 heads fresh dill (or 1 tablespoon dill seed)
  • 1 teaspoon  black peppercorns
  • 1/2 teaspoon  red pepper flakes (optional, for a little heat)
  • 3/4 cup distilled white vinegar
  • 1/2  cup water
  • 1/4  cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons pickling salt
